This is a song about the uncertain world in which we live. There is a line in the bible, the old testament I believe, that says ‘A father’s sins will be carried by his sons for seven generations.’ This is not, as it may seem at first, the way God does things; but, how man does things. God doesn’t condemn the sons for the father’s sins, but the sons learn bad behavior from the father, generation after generation. This reality of learned bad behavior exists on many levels. So that is what this song is about. There are three persons in the song, the ‘he’, the ‘you’, and the ‘me’. At one level ‘he; is the devil, ‘you’ is Eve, and ‘me’ is Adam. Another level: ‘he’ is society in general, ‘you’ is a person corrupted by the negative mores of society, and ‘me’ is a person corrupted by influence of the ‘you’ person. The song itself is a simple love song of an innocent (me) that falls in love with person (you) who has been emotionally damaged by some previous relationship (he), and the imperfect relationship that results.
